Born in NYC, raised in Minneapolis Minnesota, Brown’s early fame came when he became the bass guitarist of Prince and The Revolution, as the music icon’s original touring (and later recording) band.

Noted for his unique funk-based approach to music, BrownMark became a record producer and recording artist after parting company with Prince in 1986.  Landing a recording contract with Motown and Warner Bros., he achieved success in the R&B music field, as well as blazing new pathways for a new genre of music - Funk Rock.

Brown produced successful artists such as, Chico Debarge, Stacy Lattisaw, Troop, Teen Dream and Lakeside, to name a few. Most notably, for his role in the creation and development of the 80’s funk rock band, Mazarati.

As an established artist and musician, Brown was able to share the stage with many legendary artists during his musical career. Artist such as, Steve Wonder, Steve Ray Von, Prince, Sting, Ron Wood (Rolling Stones), Miles Davis, and many others.

He returned with a new group-project entitled, Cryptic. He independently released the CD entitled, "It's Been Awhile. Brown later experimented with an Alternative music band he created out of Tampa Florida called, Syx Mil Breach. Their CD was released late 2010.

Brownmark decided to take a shot at another experimental project called, The Brown/Sage Project. In which he collaborated with talented SF bay artist, Sage Waters. It is a brew of rock funk with heavy bass and drums, over strong vocals. This album has 80’s style funk written all over it yet is very current with the sound of today’s top artists.
